How often do you drive with your husband or a male?

I often notice men have some ego problems and therefore not let their wives or other ladies drive with them. Does your husband let you drive with him?

Why do we have to take things in a negative way. Does it really have to be ego to not let the woman drive? May be someone cares for someone else's comfort. I dont mind sitting next to some female driving, infact I hate driving, but I always drive for my Dad too, the reason for that is I want him to relax, why should he drive when I can do it for him. So why should your wife drive if you think she should sit next to you and relax while you can render your service :p

secondly there is no competition in doing that, driving car is not some kind of a race that one has to win or make a fuss over. I think this is a non issue exploited by some feminists.

Yes I agree Awais but some men find it offensive to sit next to female driver.

I remember that when my mom got her drivers' license, my dad said he wouldn't sit next to her and let her drive. I do notice that most men have this ego problem... but then are some who don't. I've often noticed that it also differs between cultures. Western men don't mind sitting next to their wives in the passenger seat. Whereas most men from the subcontinent or the middle east do have a problem with that.
Waisay I would like it with my father/husband drove, if we were goin out.

Thanks for your response Sana. Yes, it is certainly preferable if the husband drives but then there are times when the wife feels like driving as well (especially on a bright Sunday)! Do you often drive with your husband on week-ends and is he okay with it?

Quite frankly... I'm not a real fan of driving so even if I did go out with my partner, I'd want him to do the driving :)

I live in country where women are not allowed to drive but I have not seen such a case. Women do drive with the males of their family.

Zainab, first of all that number is low, and even if they do, they constantly have to hear sarcastic remarks from the male sitting in the car! I mean, why? What's wrong with a female driving with a male?

I think there are some men who find it reallyy offensive to sit next to female driver. And the most common example is of countries like Saudi Arabia. But mostly this is not the case. I believe that mostly Men treat their women with care and respect in Pakistan and they want them to relax more especially because of kind traffic situation is here. Thus I will honestly prefer the guy to drive mostly but then yea I will feel extremely suffocated if i won't be allowed to drive at all, not even in emergency situation.

You say that men here want to treat their wives with respect and not face the traffic - is driving really a male thing? I don't think driving has ANYTHING to do with the sex. A female driver is as good as a male driver. By the way, talking about traffic, the researches show that women are better at handling the traffic than the men. What is usually the case with you - how do you feel about driving with men?

Yes I know sex has nothing to do with driving but I am talking in Pakistani scenario. Here driving is pretty hectic especially in cities like Karachi, Lahore etc so yea i will prefer my father or brother to drive as i m not married yet.
