Is tomato a vegetable or fruit?

When I was watching an episode of Annoying orange, the tomato said it is a fruit, not a vegetable but orange argued that it is a vegetable. =P If tomato is a fruit and a vegetable then that means it is fruitagetable. fruit + vegetable=fruitagetable :D

Its a fruit, but we eat it as a vegetable.

Its a fruit, but we cook it and put it in our salads and salaans etc.. We do not eat it as we eat other fruits.

scientifically its a fruit... just like tori and bhindi.
the term vegetable is used in culinary circles and it means any part of a plant that can be eaten. but in general its application is vague. so tomato can be both, fruit and vegetable.. however potato is not a fruit, its a stem and vegetable.
