yeah, I am feeling cool about all the 'good' meanings :D Allah shukar.
btw, Ali: Sumi is my nick - magar it is still nice to have a good meaning.
These different meanings, now really require a cross-cultural analysis :D

iknow.. sumi is a short one, and i thought i might find it in the asian languages.. :P
long names like sumaira, nabeha, even if present in other languages (the approximate syllables ie) are pronounced so differently that it cant be matched.. my name is short, although the google is flooded with the islamic name, i am sure it must mean a verb, an adjective or a noun (one example of which i have already found) someplace somewhere in the world :D
Ali Iqbal | 12 years ago
isn't that exciting? :D I wish I could 'like' your comment!
Sumi | 12 years ago
and the way americans pronounce my name, it seems like a girls name.. Alee as in Alee McBeal!

Ali Iqbal | 12 years ago
Iqbal means 'admission', 'confession', 'avowing', 'owing' and 'acceptance' too but in terms of Law. Otherwise its just 'prosperity', 'good fortune', 'luck', 'success' and 'felicity'.
