What work opportunities are in Pakistan for graphic designers?

Salam everyone!
In my opinion once we have the A grade skill level in any of the fields in GD/CG. And we have the conviction, vision and direction then there is no way to remain up employed in Pakistan even in such a critical scenario, because an expert Graphic Designer/Animator/Modeler/Compositor and even web designer ONLY full equipped with expertise can get job easily.

Opportunities, they are many !!!! Opportunities are available for those who are creative, innovative and for someone who like to use his/her brain. Just show up your skill and apply, you will definitely come on right path, if you are really really interested. Companies want skillful people, most of the companies donot require masters. They believe in talent. Most of the companies here in Pakistan are focusing on User Experience trends rather to stay with traditional design techniques.

Make your portfolios and come to the market. Market is always open for talented people.

Designers here, start with the job and even they start from freelancing. But those who start their career from company regular job, they are more valueable. Just because they got to know proper design techniques, which helpful in polishing their career paths and I find they are more directive towards their achievements and goals.

Pakistan is a great place to live with and earn with. There isn't any doubt to make a satisfactory career.

Good question, GD and WD (Web Designers) are different people having different skills in rest of the world unlike Pakistan. Here in most of the companies a designer will be responsible to manage almost everything related to graphics, web and multimedia. This industry recently has become broad and as a designer it’s impossible to touch all those areas like from print media to 3d animation.. you have to see in what area you have strength since there are people who do work purely for web like designing mockups , email invites, handling jquery and css.. and some do only print assignments, even I have seen few designers who work like a compositor using different video tools in their projects. In Pakistan there’s not much respect and future for designers unlike other professionals in software houses, yes you will be shocked on hearing such an underestimated perception but I think it’s true, in whole Islamabad city I believe there would be hardly 4-5 designers getting pay from their companies round about 100K/ month, if you have an experience of more than 4-5 years and lucky enough to get a place in multinational company then your salary can be 60K to 80K . This is why most of the designers here either leave this country after getting experience or change their field by starting their own business .. I would recommend to get some initial professional experience from any decent company because you cannot learn everything in study I mean you will really start your design degree when you work with other senior professionals…studies don’t teach everything it more depends on natural talent you have. So first figure out professional environment and workflow then you would be able to find out your motives.. Best of luck!

GD! The most exciting thing I miss doing. I have been a TL (team lead) in a multimedia company.
The soul of GD (or I can say an artist) is always very independent.
There are companies in Pakistan doing some really amazing CG stuff.
Everything depends on your portfolio.
You career depends on what path your are opting in GD. 3d, 2d, modeling, texturing, character animation, environment designer, 2d animation, print, web etc
I'd suggest you go through some designers portfolios and interviews, www.psdtuts.com, www.abduzeedo.com
You have to be passionate about it. If you are passionate then it really doesn't matter if you are in PK or somewhere else

P.S. You need to improve your display pic's typography if you want to be a designer :)

Well I don't personally know about this GD career, but one thing I know is that Paki GDs are moving out to Middle East countries to earn in Riyals ...

Apart from that earnings point of view, Boom of media (Channels etc) must have created a lot of jobs for GDs ...

we have a designated position for GD in our company .. and have heard it in others as well but not many companies have the GD as a post .. !

There is no career Seriously. I work 8Years in Pakistan As A Senior Designer in Advertising company, there is no New technology Or improvement, mostly designer Moving TO other Countries, By My experience 4 Pakistani Friends Working abroad n they wanted to comeback Pakistan But the reason they are not coming back bcoz of Scop.... Expecting me.

Graphic designers are earning quite well in Pakistan. All you need is skills and experience. You might have heard the name of Shehzil Malik who is BNU graduate and started her own T-shirt design brand in Pakistan and it's one of the best t-shirt design brand in Lahore. Yes opportunities are there you need skills and talent.
