Is it true that teachers/professors in Pakistan are not well paid?

I often get to hear that they are not (while bearing in mind the role they play in general).

In government sector YES... but in Private institutes the teachers are highly paid .. esp the PHD Professors ...

Govt. Sector is not good in it but if u analyze the pay of unoversity teachers, they are paid good enough. Even my teachers are getting more than 1.5 Lac a month.

I haven't been to Pakistan but I can somehow picture the disparity between educators' pays.
First: private > public.
Second: primary, secondary education < tertiary, in terms of pay. but the opposite happens in terms of class load.
I don't know if you agree with me. But, this is what I have observed being a long-time teacher's pet. Haha. :)

Can't say about school teachers but PhD professors are very Highly paid. "Dr." (PhD) before your name is what universities want for their reputation.

I agree with Osama about government teachers but I don't think PhD scholars are highly paid. I think they deserve it. And its not just in Pakistan, Doctors have good income in all around world.

I too thought that PhD scholars are not that well paid considering how much effort and amount of money they have put into their education and in teaching others.
So you mean to say that Pakistani scholars are not well paid, but others around the world are well paid?
