Why do people on Pakistani TV Talk-shows need to shout all the time?

Sumi | 13 years ago

They are less of talk shows more of shout shows.

I seriously cannot listen to those talks for more than 2-3minutes.

A talk-show should give the people the opportunity to 'talk' without interference. It is often that when we think we are not being heard or taken seriously that we start 'shouting'. These talk shows reflect this even - the need to shout stems from 'not being given a proper chance to share one's point of view'. The lack of patience and tolerance and this 'wrong' pride in 'assuming to know someone's intentions' etc. all contribute to the kind of atmosphere these 'political talk-shows' create. If the purpose of these shows is to 'discuss a problem and find a solution', then they certainly are no where near that target.

Yeah this is the reality... They are nothing but depressing entertainment for the public... Depressing + entertainment... The words don't patch up with each other, so are they... never meet what the public expects or the show demands... and alongwith the guests, anchorpersons are culprits equally..!!

Sadly they are pushed in such a way that I feel neither one actually knows what the other is saying, nor is one interested in knowing what the others have to say. It seems more like: either the opinions of others to do not matter, or it is assumed that one already knows what the other person is thinking and about to say or perhaps just the attitude: "I know better, just listen to me and keep quiet."

yeah i totally agree with u, these are the few things cooking in minds of most people, and when they know their case isnt strong enough they shout so that the other person is not heard properly.

Its wisely said: Truth even whispered catches ears!

haha...so much on the role media plays in our life and how we are consciously and unconsciously ...constantly being manipulated by things/people around us. It's a continuous power struggle:
- hosts vs. guests
- guests vs. guests
- talk shows of one channel vs. talk shows of the other channel
- a certain tv channel's preference vs. individual/political leader/etc.
Sumi | 13 years ago
seriously, its a continuous power struggle, its all about competition :S
To them, competition matters more than telling the truth.
