who decides who is good and who isnt....!!!
If i get a citizenship of a country which requires me to relinquish my pakistani citizenship.. will i be a good citizen... I can argue that i dont need a piece of paper to prove my allegiance.. and besides, the piece of paper is from the authority in which I have no trust in whatsoever in the first place.
Just a hypothetical scenario, nothing serious :)

if i leave my country(which i have) because i get higher pay abroad... am i a good citizen... I can argue in favour of others like me that a beautiful mind is better spent elsewhere than not being used at all!
i second sumi though... its a good question :)

First you have not 'left' this country otherwise you wouldn't be here on this forum. Secondly its not about how is in Pakistan and who is not. Rather I think you guys who are abroad can better define or 'wish' an ideal character of a mediocre Pakistani citizen

heheh.. i tend to talk on broader terms.. like i said 'A hypothetical scenario, nothing serious'..
how do i do it.. i try to do good at what i do, I get appreciated and occasionally get asked where i am from.. i am amused by the look on their faces when i reply. upon further questioning, i am further amused by the reaction when they learn i am from peshawar.. To heck with the media, i am changing attitudes and perceptions in my limited sphere.

people in my area, unlike as in britain, havent gotten the typical taste of desi presence.. the media has built up some curiosity and speculation though.

lol! yeah i guess its a human thing.. coz my cat never responded to encouragement.. she did what she pleased however she pleased :|
Ali Iqbal | 13 years ago
:) ahhh - such a tragic story! I guess, your cat is missing on something essential. better tame it a bit :D
Sumi | 13 years ago
i had a pet dog once.. he was a street dog which i brought up.. even he understood what my mood was and used to sit and fetch on my commands (he tended to do his own sometimes but still). The cats were siamese, and they thought they are the queens or princesses and all the rest of the world are their subjects.

how about tolerance towards religion.. annd 'Indifference' towards caste and race
Ali Iqbal | 13 years ago
That should be addressed but in Pakistan that has never been 'the cause' of the loosing the game on the international front or internally :)

the reply was in response to someone citing ideal citizen above...
Ali Iqbal | 13 years ago
What do you mean by somebody without roti kapra aur makan?
Osama Shah | 13 years ago
How can a good Pakistani citizen be one without the basic needs? Are you talking about the actual state of Pakistanis rather than what a good Pakistani citizen is all about, Ali?
Sumi | 13 years ago
to change some words: 'What would be an ideal representative of a common pakistani nowadays'.. my response highlights this

Brother this is nothing about government. This is about you and me. This Government is not going to stay forever
Osama Shah | 13 years ago
I second Osama here. It is sad that people do not realize that it is not the politicians/government who hold/holds power, but they themselves have that power. We can bring a change if we want to - if we stand united and fight for the same cause. Then, government too will be obliged to listen to its citizen.
