How do people greet each other in Pakistan?

Every society has certain customs. How does it work in Pakistan?

- Women greeting women
- Men and women greeting each other...

A customary hug followed by a warm hand shake in case of Men depending upon the extent of acquaintance.

Women esp girls give some sorta 'Virtual hug of kisses' which i can never understand (I am sorry for that, may be I am dumb)

Men and women generally exchange greetings without a hand shake , a warm smile or a slight bow may follow the traditional "Assalam-o-Alaikum Ji!".

The question is why are you asking this?? :s

Part from what Awais has mentioned,
- People Aslo use their mother tongue, for example punjabis says "Rab Rakha" and sindhis says, "Allah Wahi" (Good bye)
-When meeting the elders, or when men are introduced to women, they are suppose to get up if they are seated. Thats a way to show respect.
-The elders gives dua/love by patting a lil on the head or shoulder of kids
- On Eids, people are suppose to hug each other three times, thats how they do Eid greetings

Some of them shake hands and they also say AslamoAlikum :) <3 and some of them also hug each other

Well it depends from class to class; from age to age; from situation to situation!

Men to Men: Men of our age(O i mean Boys :P) usually hug each other followed by a shake hand usually when the terms are good with each other! And when terms are not happy a hand shake and an artificial smile is enuff:P
Aged Uncles usually shake hands!
And men with kinda artistic nature have their own way of greeting: I remember one of my poet friend, he used to meet his cheeks with mine like Arabic Tradition; uuurrrrggghhhh i hate that! :/

Women to Women: I never understand what does their greeting mean! :p Hi ruby! Kesi ho? She instead of answering, asks Wo tum ny Sameena ko dekha; Us ki skin kitni khraaan ho gyi hy! uuuufff :P (No offence with anyone Cheers! ;) )

Women to Men: Simple greetings like Asslaamualikaum/Hello/Hi etc!

lolz, your friend must be like: "Oh jigar wait karo, main a raha hoon." and you must be then: "Nahe yaar, ab nahe wait kya ja ta - main bhaag kay a ta hoon" :p
