Long story Short
In 1971 or so, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman (Bangladesh side) won the elections. However, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Gen. Yahya denied him of his right to rule. As a result they revolted and got separated with the help of India.

I think we should admit that Bangladesh was not getting as much rights as the people their deserved and this is why they fought for separation.

The whole division in East and West Pakistan in itself raises questions.

correction to hani... mujib won in the east, bhutto won in the west! technically, mujib had won more seats and should have been allowed to form the government, which was denied and thus it triggered chain of events which shortly ended up in a split!
the funny thing is, at the time of separation, bengladesh population was more than that of west pakistan.
