Why the number of people fasting is decreasing day by day (or Ramadan to Ramadan) ??

I've noticed with years passing that the number of people observing fasts is decreasing, seriously! And I wonder why???
Is it because we have now very long Saums, the temperature or our faith is weakened??
In my office young middle aged hattay kattay guys are not observing fasts. Fine don't do it, but why the hell not respect others who are fasting, you smoke, you drink water in front of all... Why? :O

i dont think so it should be a prob.
if somebody smokes drinks eats, infront of people so what! its not a case of respect, its a case of let the poor guy be what he wants to be. if somebody minds food being eaten infront of him, probably he should check his own iman first coz maybe there is a hole in the food department there.
the thing is, you cannot force anyone, so if he doesnt care, there is nothing that could be done. so chill!

as for why, hehehe..there are lot of possible answers. this could be a step towards complete libertarian thinking amongst the masses.. lol, just a thought (Pakistan and libertarianism... i laughed my @$$ out on this one).
i think the answer to the why question is that people are not afraid of the society anymore, or probably society now tolerates such behaviour... and i guess its good. a saum kept due to the fear of society is not saum anyway.

in my office people eat stuff and offer it to me too.. and good stuff like brownies and cookies etc. but .. all are non muslims... or atheists should i say. i decline it everytime, some people suspect something and ask, to which i honestly reply.

some ask more about it, to which i take the asker to the combined iftar the very next oppertunity.

some say "heheh, im sorry for you mate"
and others say "man! i wont be able to do that, good thing i dont have to"
to them my reply usually is "probably youre not man enough ^_^" ... and all of that is done in pretty good humor.

@Ali You are answer is very appropriate if the subject is Germany. But my understanding is that the subject is Pakistan. You have don't have to chill anywhere specially when its about your people, your home.
Imagine if all the 'mujaddids' had thought the same that let everyone do whatever they want and we cannot force\make\convince them to do anything then this society probably wouldn't be even existing today.
We have very specified and detailed goals. There is no time for 'chilling' specially in such alarming times.

i understand people... you are free to deem them inconsiderate., talk them out of it but the point was you cant 'force' them can you!
i gave the german example to show that it is possible to keep saum with loazmaat being eaten around easily, just needs some mental practice. here its somewhat 18 hrs long!

Yar Ali my query was not related to 'keeping your fast' but it was about the 'Respect' of fast and people observing fast... :)
In Pakistan one need to be very sarcastically courageous to smoke or drink in front of public/people.

I have noticed it too :S I guess the reason is weak faith and increase in illness as well.. Most of the people can't fast because they have diabetes etc :(
But u know we shouldn't be concerned about others so much. I seriously don't care if someone eats in front of me while i am fasting. Its my faith and I am doing it for Allah, I am least concerned about others

Yupz illness is one reason... But I'm talking about young guyz i see around... And major portion of them have a reason, 'they are chain smoker'. :O
