Remember when we were young and our elders would ask us, "What do you want to be when your grow up?" Did any one of you fulfill what you said back then?

not yet. i said i would want to be a dentist. then i wanted to be an artist. then a pediatrician, then a writer, then an entrepreneur, then a writer. im working on becoming a teacher because being an artist and writer can wait. it's not really financially fulfilling unless you're the most prolific of the most prolific. :) let's just say im confused.

yes and apparently im still confused. it's like... my mother wants me to be someone else i dont want to be. and i just want a simple life though i know where she's coming from, being a doctor is a practical choice. but i was never good at time management, so i dont think it will be beneficial for me to be in med school. plus, i can easily explain complicated concepts in simple terms. even a 5 year old will know what natural selection means. :) hehe.

We all wanted to be this and that when we were kids .... Every kid has an answer to this FAQ asked by elders ... Even if they don't know why they want to be that but they just do .... Its probably inspired from parents, uncle aunties or any celebrity figure. For example majority of Paki boy kids want to be either soldier or Pilot or Doctor. Thats it. I wasn't any different too.

How it works is as you progress through your Education or as you grow up you start exploring your strong sides ... your strong subjects, your interests, what things you really enjoy to do. eg, some people are really good at giving crashers (saving a friend's ass explaining him things a day before exam :D) means they are good teachers or some people really enjoy or easily get otherwise considered complicated science/nerdy things means they are good at technical stuff etc etc...

So regardless of what you wanted to be just because you liked somebody doesn't mean you should sacrifice what you are good at. And in my opinion, you will be most successful and reach your pinnacle if you pursue something you are really good at or what you enjoy ....

I personally experienced real enjoyment when solving some logical things like Programming etc ... And hopefully peruse this .... Also teaching / training could be a possibility ....

:) nicely said. However, it is not always easy for some people to find out what they are good (or not good) at (if they are generally good in whatever they do) or what they find most interesting (if they are thirsty souls and just find everything interesting).
But glad to see that you could find what you are good at and what you like to, MashaAllah. :)

Yes I'm living my dream now, I dun remember myself saying that I wud become XYZ but I wanted to create my own self, now u wud say wht is that mean? i tell you, belonging to a "rajpoot" family/caste it's hard for girls to live their lives for their own selves.. Well, Thanks to my parents for supporting me.

I will inshaAllah ... from childhood i wanted to live with my parents but just for my studies i have to live in karachi since i was 5 ... I use to visit Jeddah in my summer vacations and My mom visits karachi for 4 months ... like this i met my mother 6 months per year and 2 months per year with my father ... so i always wanted to live my life with them not some months of a year ... so in the second half of this year my dream will be fulfilled inshaAllah :D

though my Nana, nani and mamo n family took a great care of me and bhai .. they brought us up like their own children .. i would like to thank them from bottom of my heart <3

:) If it is about profession, then: nope. As a kid, I wanted to become a doctor, later teacher, then an architect, then an economist, now struggling between becoming a professor or a consultant. InshaAllah lets see.

I sadly cannot remember any other of my childhood dreams. :(

My childhood dreams were insane .. The biggest dream is world tour which I m still hopeful for :D . Talking about careers, I wanted to be scientist and invent something *which I can't tell now* :D . Then it shifted to business women. After 9th I decided to go for doctor and after my 12th grade I realized that I hate medicine and ended up in business :D
In short No, i didn't fulfill any childhood dream :/
