How can we educate our molvi?

Religion is a very sensitive topic to discuss in a country like Pakistan where we always have some elements ready to do or die in the name of it without even listening to the whole argument. The irony of affairs is that we try to comment like we have all the requisite knowledge when we dont even practice the Religion as such. Its like every person in this country is a Maulvi when it comes to discussions.
Institutionalizing and 'constitutionalizing' the process are the answers. Institutionalize to follow merit for Selection of Imam's and Religious Scholars and constitutionalize because we are an Islamic country and are supposed to have an Islamic Law so educating the Religious Clerics must be a part of the Law as they are the ones who have to give verdicts on matters. Otherwise these Neem Hakeem sort of Maulvis will keep promoting sectarian differences and will keep using the Religion as a shield for their acts.

A molvi doesn't need to have a professional degree, all he need is the true knowledge of quran and sunnah but if he has other degree that awesome, It's that we have to change our view towards it. For example, A lady can drive and work outside wearing hijab, nothing is wrong is that right? and as Bilal has mentioned we have proper Islamic courses there and that takes a long time itself thn how one gonna study the Islam first and then do the other studies? it is a bit difficult. They need to take proper Islamic education and serve the humanity.
Btw, I have seen some well educated people who took Islamic education later on.

I think they can be educated too like Phd in Islamic studies with equal exposure of worldly knowledge with Islamic knowledge. That way they will be able to address our problems properly and they will be more open minded.

Molvi actually woh log hotay hain jo k by choice nahi by force iss main dhkail diy jatay hain. most of them hve very sakht kism ka background tau thy try to impel tht on others.unn ko bchpan se sochnay se roka jata hy aur haan ko haan aur nan k agay bhe han he krna skhaya jata hy.!
Hmaray han proper courses hain aalim bn'ny k.the shortest is of three years basic after matric . aur uss k bad 8 sal ka ek course hy jis k bad ap mukamil mufti bntay ho aur ap k pas itne research hoti hy k madris coouncil ap ko fatwa jari krny ka ikhtyar deta hy.! but most of them dnt follw the proper channel.thy rely on what their forefathers has taught them ya phir apne khud ke research jis ka syak-o-sbak dekha nahi jata aur phir mis guide kea jata hy
so, in order to educate molvi ever1 shud be forced and be appointed who has proper education otherwise , this problem will always prevail.!

I think they are molvi just by name coz they absorb the particular part of islam what they want to ... i think it is because lack of knowledge ... we should have a subject in shcools in which proper islam should be taught ..> !

I don't think any of the people answering have any knowledge about the current curriculum of a institute teaching proper Islam, like e.g. the Darul Uloom. If someone really wants to know then they should visit this website
