How can we improve security in Pakistan?

I'll have to say that this is the first time that i've heard such a story but it seems very much likely. First of all the passengers need to be vigilant and should either get some registered cab service like radio cab if carrying valuables, its always better to call someone to pick you up to avoid a certain possibility. Always note down the number of the cab. And its better if you take a good look at the drivers's face before hiring, see if he looks like a reasonable person. Tell the cabbie to adopt the route of your choice. One may look over his shoulder to see if someone is following and can leave the cab at a crowded place if there is a tail. Police can hardly do anything to stop such an incident i think.
Speaking of security in general a lot needs to be done including reforms in Police and other law enforcement Departments. Public awareness programs on vigilance, personal security and reporting. That could be a start.

I think the only solution for this problem is to increase security in our towns and cities at the national level. Because airports are many and every single passenger takes a unique route so there is no possibility of developing a system specifically for the purpose.

But passengers themselves can take some precautions like after coming out of departure move towards domestic side and walk out of there. When nearing home call somebody to be at the gate and open it at the right time and take the car directly inside garage (in case of a personal car). Because I've heard in most cases robbers follow to the home and rob at the gates.

Yes as Awais said its better to call someone to pick you up or else use radio cap. To increase overall security in Pakistan, it is important to treat every area equally. Like I find so many check points in Islamabad which get less in number as we move towards pindi. Crime can never be controlled like this

Well your talking about only street crime here, I agree with all the above, but we are facing bombing and gun down sorta things too, I think stop blaming the govt and be careful ourselves, we shud be aware of who is living next to our house, what kinda people they are, what do they do etc. I guess that's our responsibility as an individual

Zaianab even we know that persons living to next to my house are criminal or terrorist, to whom we will tell? This 'Rashi' police or this corrupt gov(Rehman Malik)? I think we can overcome street crime only by rule of law, good governance, speedy justice and employment.

i think once the police is active and alert ... and stop involved in crime then all the things will get better ... !

When we will all come out of state of numbness, there would be no threat.
