So my (RAY) 'urdu alphabet' sounds like (RAY') or vise versa! I hope you guys know what im what im talking about...is this common?

Lolz. That's not a lisp (if we are talking about the same problem). It's just a matter of pronunciation / difference in phonetics and phonology. The Urdu 'ray' is my problem too. My 'r' is the typical English one and this can be heard no matter what language I speak. argh. I know, that you can improve it, but I don't know how. Sorry :(

Hahah I notice that!! I think people who grew up outisde Pakistan have this issue! Just our luck but lol I'm glad u understood what I was trying to say!

:p not our fault, right? initially my relatives really tried hard to do something about it, but eventually they had to give up :D sailing in the same boat, don't worry.

It's very common so dun worry about it, just try to listen and say "ray" words as much as u can. See if this vdo helps, This is for english R but u can practice it on "ray"

its really funny when a i poke an east german friend of mine to pronounce the english R. he ends up pronouncing the typical german equivalent which is similar to the urdu "ghain". and a poor soul khurram's name becomes khooghamm!

I really enjoy when ppl talk like this and i think thats the beauty of the language ... you understand the sentence as well but its the matter of pronounciation
