I know thats not expansion...buh ARY started off from Khi ...which supposingly a city witthin Pakistan... ;)
ummmm... on the other hand well I dn't think its 'unfortunate' that our big companies are lagging behind in operating outside Pakistan... the reason is for every company the first and basic aim or goal is to MAximize Shareholder's Wealth...how ever they do it... internationalizing the company is not the core purpose of any company (i suppose)... And if the company is successfully maximizing the SHW by operating in the home country, then i dnt think so they should opt internationalization until and unless opputunity is there... coz there are many risks involved when u go international... buh if u see you can cope up with the risks and can do better, then why not, definitely they'll internationalize...!!

I will quote example of Star bucks here .. You know for around 13 years, that company operated on break even. They were reinvesting all their profits and expanding within US. And go public only when they started expanding outside US. Maximizing shareholder's wealth is never the goal of successful corporations.

Well thats an exceptional case... We are talking about corporations in Paksitan not others, why successful corporations in Pakistan don't go int'l... coz they are majorly concerned with wealth maximization not the expansion... and they are ok with it...!!
Faiq Latifi | 12 years ago
But they shouldn't be okay with it.. This is why multicorporations are eating us up

Yeah they shudn't be buh here problem arises that is mentioned by Hassan... the Seth thingy.. the Pakistani businessmen are just into making money... and spending it only where they are sure they'll get the return... Kinda Selfish loacal giants we have!
