Why Pakistani web developers don't go for the web companies like Facebook, Twitter or Metro Lyrics?

May be because they are more interested in creating Facebook-like-web of their own ...

Why do they have to? why can't we make something on our own ? Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Dorsey etc were also normal people, who came up with something new and that clicked !

This question is basically an observation and there are a lot of factors that play their part to lead to this. Firstly We did not have established University networks and portals until very recently and that too for only a few universities. Thats what provides the basic platform to the students to try their ideas upon. Secondly our software Engineers and developers may be good at coding but due to incomplete method of instruction they are never told what are the possibilities in their fields that can be explored. So it comes down to the student themselves who have to do everything, make the resources available, come up with the ideas, and spare sometime from regular cramming to devote to their ambitions. But I am very hopeful that in coming times we will definitely have some breakthroughs in this field. Lets keep our fingers crossed

Disagreeing with most of you. Working in facebook doesn't certify level of our national achievements! Neither does it bring any extra respect. It is not a software giant like google, apple, microsoft where Pakistanis are already working. Working with them wont add to much to the carrier of a web developer on technical end.

Facebook is not a cutting edge, innovative or continuously evolving web technologies house. It has value because its a product used alot. Like Toyota. An engineer would always prefer to work in BMW than Toyota, despite the fact that toyota sells more cars per year. Most of facebooks technology comes from developer APIs which are developed by programmers world wide and added to fb's platform voluntarily.

Yeah they should atleast give it a try yar... obviously you wont step the ladder to top in a single step for that u have to work hard... Just like Zuckerburg, from smallest to largest...he worked soooo hard thats why fb is successful... =) Lets hope for the best

we have lots of our own .. though they r not that popular but we have ... Jawab is one of them ;)

People do go, those who get selected (probably isn't that easy). Some may have problems due to which they don't like, moving to another country etc. Yet others may like living comfortable lives without too many ambitions. :) Its all about choices you make.

Do we actually know that there is no Pakistani in any of those companies?

I really think that we should avail this opportunity. You know most of these organizations are fill with Indians. Maybe Pakistanis web developers don't think that big. If they could first get experience by working on these sites before making their own then that would definitely work in their advantage.
