How can the load-shedding problem in Pakistan be solved? How does this particular problem affect your daily life?

Sumi | 12 years ago

I heard that people are supposed to expect up to 14 hours (in some even 20 hours) of load-shedding.
How do you cope with this problem? What are the possible long-term solutions? What about all those people who cannot afford generators, etc.?

Wow! Thanks for this detailed reply. Very insightful. It's sad, Pakistan has so much potential, but well...
btw point 2: cannot it be solved without Gov's investment?
Sumi | 12 years ago
Pt-2: An alternate could be some Non-Govt. investment. But you know investors are not very much interested to invest in Pakistan b/c of the current situation.

Hmmm...I am thinking what we as normal citizens can do to change this situation. What if we 'jawabians' make our own organization and promote this stuff by raising awareness? I just feel that it is high time that this problem needs to get solved.

There are already many NGOs working for this energy crisis in Pakistan (and Worldwide as well). I was part of one. You can do that but a lot of efforts and full-time efforts will be required.

Good to know! I should get myself informed on this. Thanks again!

I might add that we as the nation of this country appear to me as in a state of denial over the power issue. We are willing to spend millions on the RPPs and UPSs and generators but nobody has ever asked any bold question like When are we gonna have a new dam or a nuclear power reactor like the Chashma NPP? I hope that changes or Power will just be a chapter of history books of our country the way our need is growing and the way we are not taking any sustainable measures to cope with this impending issue.
