No. We cannot measure happiness. We can, however, measure happiness when it involves the same entities and the same circumstances. But that too, only sometimes.
For example, you could measure two "happinesses" in the case I am about to present. Let's say you score 8 marks out of 10 in a class test. You feel happy about it. And that satisfies you. But all of the sudden, your professor decides to give you an extra mark for your good behavior which makes your total score 9! And I think 9/10 sounds much better than 8/10.
Wouldn't that make you much happier? Of course it would! :D
But then there are cases where you simply can't measure or compare your joy. Lets say you go on a trip to France with a couple of your best buddies who you've met after a long, long time. You have a great time, you visit famous landmarks, you shop until you drop, have amazing food and just have an awesome trip. You feel great about it since you've enjoyed yourself crazy.
And then you decide to get married to the love of your life. Everything turns out perfectly the way you wanted it to be, and everyone's happy for you and wishing you well.
Can you compare these two events? I doubt it... they're both of a completely different nature.
Detailed explanations aside, I seriously think we should focus on the positive aspects in life & be happy with what little (or more) we have. Because happiness is a state of mind.
You can be sad with a billion dollars, or happy with a sookhi roti and daal. May Allah Bless us all with the best :)
