Has western culture took over our tradition, or we still respect ours?

Sadly. Yes We have become very westernized/americanized, specially if you see the youth of Pakistan,yes im one of them and I do know i'm not following my culture, Tv and Media has played a v wrong part here to spoil us, to be "cool" is more important these days, no matter wht u hv to do to be one. As far as respect is concern, personally I do and the IMP point I want to mention here is that, from what i have seen while living abroad is that Pakistani ppl still haven't lost the track completely, We still are a bit betta then some other nations. for example, respect of elders is still there, specially the respect we have for our teachers, we try to help out ppl as much as we can. Maybe because we still have joint family system here, So we know how to give n gain respect.

I think there is still high regard for your tradition in spite of that western mentality creeping in. I even think that this westernization will remain a mentality, given that Pakistanis have that strong sense of identity, which is reflected in their love for their poetry and a conservative view on religion too. But I could be wrong. I could only differentiate from what I observe in my own society compared to yours. My society is so trying-hard Western because we have an identity crisis.

it depends on the person, high class families have totally forgotten the tradition that was used by our ancestors. and of course youth, they have no idea about the tradition, they are drifting away towards western style

i think there are two kinds of people .. one are Wanna Be and one whoa re happy who they are ...
SO the Wanna bees have adopted the western culture from head to toe where as the others still respect their culture and norms ... !
